Rubber to Metal Bonding Adhesive Alternative For Chemlok 205 Chemosil 211

1. Application

815 is a heat vulcanization bonding adhesive for rubber to various metals. It works as a primer and is equivalent to Chemlok 205 and Chemosil 211 etc, but with more competitive price etc.

2. Characteristics

  • This single-component bonding agent is specifically designed for nitrile rubber (NBR).
  • It also serves as a primer for bonding various metals, plastics, and rubbers.
  • This agent offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of metals, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, iron, brass, and aluminum alloys.
  • It is compatible with galvanized surfaces.
  • User-friendly and non-toxic, it can be applied using various methods such as dipping, spraying, brushing, or roller coating.
  • This bonding agent demonstrates excellent resistance to heat, water, solvents, oils, salts, and corrosion.
  • It boasts high bonding strength, exceptional stability, and long-lasting durability.
  • Furthermore, it exhibits strong adhesive properties even in low temperatures and can effectively bond materials during 90℃ vulcanization.

4. Applying 815

1). Surface Preparation:

  • Thoroughly clean all bonding surfaces to remove contaminants such as oil, rust, and oxides.
  • Grit-blasting is recommended, followed by degreasing.
  • Apply 815 Adhesive immediately after surface pretreatment to prevent re-oxidation.

2). Mixing:

  • Ensure the adhesive is thoroughly mixed before application.

3). Dilution:

  • If dilution is required, follow the recommended dosage.
  • Diluted adhesive should not be stored for extended periods.

4). Application Methods:

  • Brushing & Roller Coating: No dilution required.
  • Dip Coating: Dilute 100 parts of 815 Adhesive with 20 parts of MEK or MIBK.
  • Spraying: Dilute 100 parts of 815 Adhesive with 30-100 parts of MEK or MIBK.

5). Coating Thickness:

  • Maintain a uniform coating thickness.
  • As a primer, target a dry film thickness of 5-10 μm.
  • As a single-coat application, aim for a dry film thickness of 10-15 μm.

6). Drying:

  • Allow the applied adhesive to dry for 30-60 minutes at room temperature.
  • Pre-warming or heating can accelerate drying.

7). Storage:

  • Store 815 Adhesive in a dry environment at room temperature.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to high humidity and temperatures.

8). Post-Application Cleaning:

  • Before vulcanization, remove any excess adhesive using a cloth soaked in xylene or MIBK.
  • Once cured, the adhesive cannot be removed with solvents.

9). Vulcanization:

  • For optimal adhesion, vulcanize the rubber and the adhesive simultaneously.
  • Place the coated parts in the mold, fill with rubber, and close the mold immediately to begin vulcanization.
  • Adjust vulcanization pressure as needed.

5. Notes

1. Close the diluents container tightly after use.

2. The diluents vapor is hazardous. Prevent long time inhalation or skin contact in working place.
