WANNATE 8798 is a urethane-modified diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). It appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. Suitable for the production of polyurethane gel elastomers.

4. Storage

WANNATE 8798 is chemically reactive and readily reacts with moisture to form insoluble urea compounds and release carbon dioxide gas, which can cause drum swelling and increased viscosity. Therefore, containers must be kept strictly dry and sealed, and protected with dry nitrogen during storage.

Store WANNATE 8798 at room temperature (15–25°C) in a well-ventilated indoor area under strict sealing conditions. If the storage temperature falls too low (below 10°C), crystallization may occur. Thus, it must be protected from freezing. If crystallization does occur, the material must be promptly melted by heating. Do not heat above 70°C. Localized overheating is strictly prohibited, as decomposition and gas formation may occur above 230°C. It is recommended to use a hot-air oven with a rotating drum device for heating. After heating, the contents must be mixed thoroughly.

Avoid long-term storage above 50°C to prevent the formation of insoluble solids and an increase in viscosity. Under suitable storage conditions, the shelf life is 9 months. Products beyond the stated shelf life that still meet the specified technical indicators are generally not affected in their usability.
