PTMEG PTMG-2000 Used for Block Polyurethane Rubber such as Tires, Drive Belts, Washers polyurethane elastic fibers and thermoplastic elastomers
1. Introduction
PTMG 2000
EXCHEM-20210620
PTMG 2000 (Polytetramethylene Glycol PTMEG) is nominal 2000 molecular weight diol based on THF
(Tetrahydrofuran) polymerization. It's enhanced reactivity make it well suited to use of polyurethane.
Manufacturing Process:
Monomer: THF
C4H8O + H2O
2. Application
Polymer: PTMG
→
H(OCH2CH2CH2CH2)nOH
PTMG is used extensively in the production of convention polyurethane elastomer, such as spandex fiber,
coating agent of artificial leather, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), thermoplastic polyester elastomer and
others (adhesive, foam etc.)

5. Storage
PTMG is hygroscopic and absorption of moisture would affect polyurethane reactivity and physical
properties of resulting polymer . The material should be stored in sealed containers and in dry conditions,
away fr om direct sources of light. The recommended storage temperature is between 40 ~ 45 ℃. Opened
drums must be reclosed tightly immediately after drawing off material.
6. Packing
200kg Steel Drum; ISO Tank Container
7. Handling Precautions
PTMG has very low odor of acute toxicity and does not present a significant health hazard to users.
Normal standards of industrial hygiene should however be observed when handling this chemical.
Suitable protective clothing and safety glasses must be worn to avoid unnecessary contacts and accidental
ingestion. In case of skin or eye contact, wash promptly with copious amount of clean water. In case of
eye contact, seek medical attention.
8. Fire and Explosion
PTMG polyether glycol will burn under certain condition and can explode if heated to decomposition
temperature in a confined area. Polyols fires can be extinguished with water fog, carbon dioxide or dry
chemicals
